(VINnews) — Though it came way too late, CNN finally confronted Dr. Anthony Fauci over a major study showing that face masks made little or no difference to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Conservatives on social media pounced on Fauci, after he acknowledged the study — while (inexplicably) continuing to insist that, at an individual level, other studies show masks were effective at curtailing the spread.
“When you’re talking about the effect on the epidemic or the pandemic as a whole, the data are less strong,” Fauci admitted to host Michael Smerconish.
Even CNN is calling Fauci out for mask mandates.

“But there are other studies, Michael, that show at an individual level, for individuals,” they might be protective, he said.
“Fauci admits that masks don’t work for the public at large but still absurdly claims masks work on an individual basis. More subterfuge,” Senator Rand Paul posted on Twitter. Paul was censored from Youtube and other social media channels after he said there was no evidence that cloth masks helped prevent the spread of Covid–which a CNN expert months later essentially confirmed.
Some poked fun at Facui’s comments. “This is amazing. According to Fauci, masks work at the individual level but not on the pandemic level. Makes sense,” TRIGGERnometry podcast co-host Konstantin Kisin posted.
“Fauci confronted with most definitive data analysis possible that masks make ZERO difference against Covid. Not a little, not slight- Zero. And he just mutters some numerical illiteracy…about ‘individual protection.’ He’s a fraud and a liar,” conservative host Buck Sexton said.
“It’s really hard to assume Fauci’s disastrous ‘mistakes’ were in good faith when he refuses to acknowledge obvious facts that don’t require a PhD to decipher. It looks a lot more like ‘TRUST THE SCIENCE!’ only applies when it suits Fauci’s personal or political narrative,” former senior White House official Cliff Sims said.
Today on CNN, after devastating study citations from the interviewer showing that masks don’t work, Fauci responded: “but masks work on an individual level”.

Masks don’t work for the general population not because masks don’t work (do you think the tens of thousand of medical personnel in hospitals are complete idiots?).
Mask don’t work in the general population because the general population don’t and won’t wear masks properly 100% of the time. Masks do help those that actually use them properly.
While I understand that hating Fauci is a tenet of belief, I can only tell you that it isn’t as simple as you portray.
This was a low-power Cochrane study:
“The high risk of bias in the trials, variation in outcome measurement, and relatively low adherence with the interventions during the studies hampers drawing firm conclusions.”
Masks happen to be the one mandate that if it worked, I’d say we should have done it. Others like social distancing are something which we just can’t commit to for long periods of time. For frum jews social interaction is essential for life. But we could have done masks.
I am from those who wears masks all the time in crowded indoor environments. I have sat next to people for hours who got sick with COVID the next day and have never gotten sick nor tested positive. Mask mandates don’t work because people prefer to spread deadly disease by not wearing masks and refuse to follow the mandates.
