Orange County, NY – Orange County is seeking development proposals for the former Camp La Guardia property. The county bought the 256-acre property in February after New York City officials announced the closing of the men’s homeless shelter that had been housed there for decades. An exploratory committee was formed a few months ago to make recommendations to County Executive Ed Diana and had suggested sending it out for proposals.

Member Maureen Halahan, president of the Orange County Partnership, said her agency will also send it to developers it has a relationship with.
“To sort of see what the value of the property is,” she said. “The best way to see if you got something is to see how many developers respond.”
Developers have until Nov. 21 to submit proposals. [record]
