Brooklyn, NY – Four buildings were evacuated early this morning after police from the Brooklyn South Narcotics Squad executing a search warrant discovered a mortar shell, a Kalashnikov AK-47 assault rifle, four handguns and “numerous boxes” of ammunition with a small amount of marijuana inside an apartment at 2281 Ocean Parkway and Gravesend Neck Road.

At the time of the discovery of all the miltery explosives, NYPD of the 61st Pct called for a level one mobilization, and had all the surrounding apartments evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The mortar shell was described as being “inert.” But police said they confiscated four .9-millimeter handguns from the property, as well as the AK-47 and the ammunition. [amNY]
