Brooklyn, NY – An Orthodox Jewish man who left $5,000 worth of jewelry in an Uber car couldn’t report the incident for three days because it happened just before sundown on Passover.

The man left the jewelry in the car on April 3 and waited until April 6, after the holy day, to report the incident to the police, according to the New York Post (http://bit.ly/1yk9iLq ). By that time, the driver had sold all of the jewelry to a pawn shop.
The driver, 51-year-old Juan Morales, 51, was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
An Uber spokesman said Morales was removed from service.
“Immediately upon learning what happened, the driver was removed from the platform,” said Lane Kasselman, Uber head of communications for North America. “This is an unfortunate incident and we are gratified that the authorities were able to quickly apprehend the suspect. We stand ready to assist them in any investigation.”
The driver is a real “Uber” chuchem!
