Rabbi David Lau, the chief Ashkenazi rabbi, recited Tehillim, followed by the Sephardi Chief Rabbi, Rav Yitzhak Yosef and other prominent rabbis.

Both chief rabbis have called upon Klal Yisrael to “cry out and beg and elicit the mercy of Shamayim on the whole of Israel.”

In addition to Tehillim, the rabbis recited the Yom Kippur Katan Selihos, alongside some relatives of hostages being held in Gaza and soldiers fighting there. In addition, there were a series of shofar blasts.
