As the holiday season approaches, it’s time for more parties and plenty of socializing with friends and family. Often at social events, there are a variety of different alcoholic beverages to partake in. But, if you’re not one for wine, beer, or spirits, you might feel left out. Let’s be real: no one wants only the option of water at a fun event! If you’re headed to a party and dreading the non-alcoholic beverage options that will be available to you, fear not! We’re here to help with a list of mocktail ingredients that are yummy, and healthy too! With mocktail mixers like these, you’re bound to have plenty of party guests wondering where you got your delicious drink from. Heck, they might even join you too!

1. A Healthy Herbal Tonic Spritz

An herbal tonic is a nutritional beverage that includes herbs and other plants that aid in overall wellness. They also make a perfect addition to any mocktail! To craft an herbal tonic mocktail, you’ll want to pick out an herbal tonic that suits your taste preferences as well as your health needs.

If you’re looking for a mocktail that will help aid in bloating from the hefty Thanksgiving dinner you just consumed, you might opt for a detox herbal tonic that includes ginger root, an herb that is known to soothe the digestive system. Or, if you’re looking for a mocktail that can help you to avoid getting whatever cold that your little cousin seems to be carrying around, you could choose an herbal tonic made with immune system boosting ingredients like goji berries, hibiscus, and elderberries. Or, if being around your family during the holidays stresses you the heck out, you could try an herbal tonic that includes ashwagandha, an herb that helps to promote a sense of calm in the body.

Whatever the situation, there’s an herbal tonic that’s perfect for your holiday season mocktails. You can drink an herbal tonic on its own as a mocktail, or add a splash of sparkling water or a well-paired fruit juice to really go the extra mile with your mocktail mixing.

2. A Cool and Refreshing Cucumber Lemonade

There’s nothing quite like a refreshing glass of lemonade. In order to turn your usual lemonade into a mocktail that truly shines, infuse it with slices of fresh cucumber. The cucumber will add a dose of refreshment to the tart juice of the lemon that will have you pouring glass after glass to enjoy. In order to reduce the amount of sugar in your lemonade and keep your mocktail a healthy choice, try using raw honey, which has antibacterial properties that can give your immune system a bit of a boost while you schmooze at an event like a bestie’s baby shower.

3. A Holiday Cranberry Lime Spritzer

There’s nothing quite like a cranberry mocktail around Chanukah time. To get in the Chanukah spirit this year, pour yourself a cranberry lime spritzer. In order to make one, you’ll need half a cup of cranberry juice, and half a cup of soda water. Combine together and add the juice of half a lime. Stir with ice and enjoy while you sing carols around the fireplace with your loved ones.

4. A Soothing Faux Mint Mojito

While mojitos are typically made with rum, this mocktail version utilizes just mint, sparkling water and a variety of berries for a sweet and nutritious drink to pair with any outdoor family gathering. In order to make your faux mojito, you’ll want to muddle your mint, lime, and berries together (these can be any berries of your choosing, but we’re a fan of blueberries thanks to the antioxidants in them). Form there, combine with sparkling water, ice, and sip to your heart’s content. As delicious as it is, this mocktail is also great for your stomach, as mint is an herb that helps to soothe the digestive system.

Time to Mix Your Mocktails!

Just because you aren’t drinking alcohol at a family or friend gathering doesn’t mean that you have to be left out of the fun of having a delicious beverage to enjoy. In fact, there are a number of mocktails that you can easily whip up using a variety of simple, yet super healthy ingredients. If you’re looking for a dose of superfoods in your mocktail, try one that incorporates an herbal tonic (or just drink the tonic straight from the bottle!). For a refreshing mocktail, try a cucumber lemonade sweetened with honey. To get into the holiday spirit, you’ll want to whip up a cranberry lime spritzer. Or, if you’re in the mood for a mojito sans rum, you can make one using just berries, mint, lime, and sparkling water. As you can see from the list above, there are plenty of healthy mocktails that you can enjoy this holiday season!
