The achdus was on full display in Ashkelon on Monday, when news spread of IDF soldier Ori Magidish’s miraculous rescue from Hamas in Gaza.
Chassidim in Ashkelon broke out singing and dancing, rejoicing over the news.

Charedi journalist Yanki Farber tweeted in hebrew: “My son just asked me now why I am crying. Chassidim dancing in the streets of Ashkelon after the release of the female soldier. I did not see anything like this when Gilad Shalit was released, nor any other Israeli operation. Now you understand, it’s not that tomorrow everyone is reporting to the basecamp, (even so the IDF is inundated with Charedim who are waiting in line to enlist) but there is an incredible sense of understanding among all of us, that we must not return to division.”
